On 15 and 16 November, the town of Martim Longo will once again become the meeting point for tradition and community with the celebration of the 16th Partridge Fair, an event that pays tribute to the region’s hunting heritage, nature, and rural culture in the municipality of Alcoutim. Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to enjoy a varied programme of activities including partridge releases, falconry displays, dog shows, cooking demonstrations, equestrian activities, honey and working dog competitions, as well as the traditional roasted chestnuts festival. The fair will also feature street performances, folk dances, and live concerts by Jorge Guerreiro and D’Abalada. Gastronomy will be another major highlight of the fair, featuring proposals that showcase the region’s culinary richness. Among them are the partridge cataplana with mushrooms and chestnuts and the culinary demonstration “Gastronomic Creativity Algarve–Andalusia with Iberian Pork”, both part of the European AGROSOCIAL project, which promotes the shared flavours, products, and knowledge between neighbouring regions.
