The Provincial Council of Córdoba has presented the diagnosis and action plan for its generational renewal pilot project at the Dehesas Cordobesas SCA cooperative (Los Pedroches and Valle del Guadiato), developed under the European cross-border AGROSOCIAL initiative (Interreg POCTEP program / ERDF funds). The study—prepared alongside the Institute of Corporate Governance—reveals that the average age of cooperative members is around 62 years, only 7% are under 41, and 35% have no identified successor. Given this scenario, the cooperative has become a pioneer by defining a 2030 roadmap to revitalize the sector and engage rural youth. The plan outlines 4 strategic pillars (income and loyalty, farm succession, rules and governance, and culture and territory) structured into 16 concrete measures: Land bank: Stewardship and repurchase mechanisms to preserve heritage within the social model of the dehesa. Youth support: Introduction of a "young member" status offering discounted terms and mentorship programs pairing experienced farmers with youth. Simplification and training: Launch of an administrative assistance office to reduce red tape and the creation of a rural trades school. By 2030, the project aims to support 25 new youth entries, ensure production stability, and guarantee that no farm closes without having first received a continuity proposal.
